Where You Once Prayed for Me, 2022
Where You Once Prayed for Me is a typology of janamazes (prayer rugs) inspired by a moment of reflection I had whilst sitting on my Grandad's old janamaz. I realised I would always position my feet on the worn parts of the janamaz where he would have and proceed to make a prayer for him where he once would have for me.
When my feet stand where yours once stood
And my head rests where yours once did
I pray for you where you once prayed for me
